A Note from the Desk of Janae… Updates, Encouragements and Fun Facts!
Back to our regularly scheduled programming here on your Monday email updates! It was a whirlwind of a weekend as we hosted my sister's bridal shower yesterday. It was so special to celebrate her quickly approaching wedding! We also got to enjoy some quick visits from out-of-town family, another special treat!
I had a really wonderful time at the 2026 D6 Conference with our great team and a team from Providence Church as well. On Sunday, I’ll be sharing a brief report with you all about our experience and learning. You can grab a full copy of our report in the Gathering Area, or read it here. Thank you for your prayers and support of our group. It was a refreshing and inspiring weekend of learning, worship and fellowship!
This week we host our last full Wednesday Roots Night for our Roots Kids. Like always, we’ll share our meal at 5:45pm and begin all age programming at 6:30pm. Lil’ Roots and Bridge Roots Kids are encouraged to wear a jersey for Wednesday nights activities! Pastor Kevin will continue his BELIEVE Adult Bible Study on Wednesday nights through the entire month of May, concluding on Wednesday, May 27th. The Roots Kids will have their Wednesday Roots Night Bash on Wednesday, May 20th. The evening includes special activities for them, but dinner will still be for all at 5:45pm.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Spring Congregational Business Meeting on Wednesday, May 13th at 7pm. These meetings are important opportunities for you to be updated and participate in the business of the church. Your voice, as members, matters!
This Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. There are a lot of opportunities for you to participate locally and across the county. If you don’t want to participate at in-person events, commit to praying on Thursday! For our country, our church, our community, your family, the Kingdom! The Youth Roots Kids are invited to participate in the National Day of Prayer South Youth Event at Encounter Church. I am hopeful to participate with some of our Youth Roots!
May means the end of the school year is coming fast! You’ll find Bibles in the Gathering Area for you to sign and leave encouraging notes in for our 2026 graduates - Mason Houghton, Ashley Welch and Ivy Welch. They will be in the Gathering Area for you to sign until Sunday, May 31st, our graduate Sunday.
We’re gearing up to transition to our summer block. We’ll be organizing teachers and resources for the Adult Summer Sunday School electives and the Lil’, Bridge and Youth Roots classes. Thank you for contributing your opinions to the Adult Elective Survey! We’ll announce the final classes soon! If you’re feeling led to teach or assist in any of these age-level classes, please reach out!
What WE’RE Learning This Week: A nugget of what our Lil’, Youth and Adults Roots heard this week
Our Key Idea: I know my spiritual gifts and use them to fulfill God’s purposes.
Our Key Verse: Romans 12:4-6
How Every Generation Lives This Out: Talk as a family... Where does the church
family need your God-given gifts and skills right now?
What I’M Learning This Week: Sharing what I’m reading and listening to lately
I deeply felt this post I stumbled upon this weekend.
“Some mornings I open my Bible and feel nothing.
No warmth. No great insight… Just words on a page and a toddler yelling from the other room.
I used to think that mean something was wrong with me.
Now I think that’s just what faithfulness looks like sometimes. You show up anyway. You read anyway. You pray anyway.
Feelings are not the engine. Obedience is.
The feelings catch up. They always do.”
Maybe you’re feeling like me this week; a little dry, a little purpose-less, a little tired. Let’s show up anyway. Though those feelings have validity in our current season, they don’t drive the results. The showing up does.
“But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.” Psalm 73:28 NASB
