It’s March and I keep thinking about the saying “in like a lion and out like a lamb!” Warmer spring time days are soon upon us! We had a wonderful day of worship together yesterday. It certainly was special to take communion right before Ash Wednesday, ushering us into the Lent Season with quiet attitudes of repentance and gratitude for Christs life and work.

Speaking of Lent, I am looking for some individuals to read short readings and prayers in our 8:15am worship services each week of Lent. We will be recognizing “symbols of Lent,” giving us some visual reminders of Christ’s life leading up to the cross. If you (and your spouse or friend) would like to participate, sign-up for a week in the Gathering Area. We’ll be recognizing these symbols differently in the 10:30am service, so readers are not needed for that time.

Roots Night is on Wednesday! I hope you’ll join us for devotions and dinner at 5:30 and one of the many discipleship opportunities at 6:30pm. The Lil’ Roots are looking at the “colorful” life of David this winter/spring. This week is “brown” week, wear your brown! The Youth Roots are taking a week to preview the MVMT Conference, a youth experience we’re hoping to participate in this summer. Pastor Kevin’s study is continuing to work through 1 Corinthians. Kerri Kreider and Mary Etta Reinhart have been leading fruitful discipleship conversations in their group as well.

Pastor Kevin and I will be participating in a church sponsors luncheon at Solid Rock this week. We’re looking forward to hearing more about that ministry in our community. I’m continuing to progress through my New Testament class, and am participating in a online forum about “milestone ministries” this week - one of Roots Crews objectives this year.

Next week my family is sneaking away for a fast trip to visit my grandparents in Florida. I am looking forward to some time with them and some time together as a family after our last two months. Until then, there’s lots of planning meetings and conversations happening as FAMJAM is in the works, a boys and men event, as well as some other smaller events. January and February took on a bit of a quieter nature, much needed, but I’m energized by the developing and creating that these other ministry opportunities bring!

Take a few minutes to visit and add to the Dream Big board, it will make it’s departure at the end of the week. As you’ve been faithfully praying along during this sermon series, continue to pray for Pastor Kevin and the committee that will form to “digest” and form our next Strategic Vision from all of our dreams!

Make Every Week Count: Parenting, Grandparenting & Spiritual Mentoring Resources

Something to Read: As a visual learner, I love this Bible study tool! There’s several of these out there, but this Infographic Bible, is one I enjoy!

Something to Listen to: An excellent lesson this week on Progressive Christianity. Check out the article in your D6 Devotional Guides, too! Here are three podcasts with Alisa Childers, a great voice on this topic, that D6 has published.

Something to Follow: In keeping with sharing Lent Resources, here is a devotional plan in the YouVersion Bible app that would be easy to implement (you can read or listen!) into your Lenten season. Check out 'Praying the Scripture Through Lent.'
