Happy Snow Day, church family! It sure is beautiful, but it sure is chilly! I hope you’re able to safely (and warmly) enjoy God’s creation, however you like best! Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped make yesterday’s time of worship possible, despite the wintery weather! It surely takes a village!
Last week I gave you a quick glimpse of our Jr. High Youth Roots Winter Retreat at Black Rock. In two weeks our Sr. High Youth Roots will head out for their annual Ski Retreat. Once our Sr. High gang gets back safely, you’ll hear a report from both groups and their experiences away. Thank you for supporting our recent Carmel Corn Fundraiser, your generosity there helps make these spiritual retreat experiences possible for our Youth Roots! We are still making decisions about our Jr. and Sr. High Youth Root Summer experiences. Many factors are at play regarding these decisions. You can be praying over wisdom and clarity as we finalize these details! The best way to stay in the loop with all Youth Roots happenings is to follow the “Family Ministry Updates” page in the bulletin each week, and of course, your faithful followership of my weekly email!
This week is another Wednesday Roots Night! Despite the cold weather, don’t miss out! A lovely meal is shared together starting at 5:45pm, followed by discipleship activities for all ages at 6:30pm. Wednesdays are long days on the calendar, but they are really full days for the heart! I love watching the church family fellowship and learn together! Won’t you join us this week?
The BELIEVE series continues! Make sure you’re visiting the table in the Gathering Area to sign each week’s BELIEVE poster. They’ll be out for two weeks, so you’ll never miss a chance to sign them! You’ll start to find them hanging in the Gathering Area and in the Adult Wing as we continue to move along in the series.
Two more ways to carry your learning from each Sunday’s BELIEVE session into your week is to 1) Join Pastor Kevin’s Adult Bible Study each Wednesday night. He’s leading discussions that take class participants deeper into each week’s topic! 2) Listen along to each week’s episode of “The Dig” podcast! Remember, you can listen along to my take home tool for every generation on our church website, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts. I release a new episode every Wednesday morning to help you “deepen your understanding of this past week's learning and ignite your curiosity for what we’ll be learning next week!”
It’s cold and snowy today but summer is coming (yay!)! I spent a day last week working on some concepts for FAMJAM 2026! You can be praying over that task for me. I am excited about our time together this summer but am still seeking some clarity from God on what our focus needs to be this year! Another Summer activity on the calendar is the MGCB Musical Camp! Lori Holzhauer is hosting a free, musical camp for Roots Kids who have completed 4th-8th Grade on June 15-19th! Registration is open! Spread the word and register here!

What I’M Learning This Week: Sharing what I’m reading and listening to lately
Yesterday’s BELIEVE topic was on Salvation. I’m teaching our Bridge Roots Kids (4th-6th grade) Sunday School class right now. We started talking about sacrifices and how Jesus made the ultimate and final sin sacrifice on our behalf.
I kept thinking about this episode of “The Dig” podcast - 06: God Sent Jesus to Rescue Me From My Sins. This episode was part of our “Root Truth” season. In this episode I talk about how “something had to die to make things right.” Sit on that thought this week as you continue to process this week’s BELIEVE Key Idea - “I believe a person comes into a right relationship with God by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ.” Jesus, our perfect sacrifice! Thanks be to God!
“How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” - Hebrews 9:14
